New evidence requirements—April 2016

From April 2016, RTOs will be need to meet additional evidence requirements if they want to add  TAE Training Package qualifications to scope.

A list of TAE Training Package qualifications is as follows:

  • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development
  • TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training

FILE SIZE LIMITS: It is important to note that the maximum upload capacity of a file is 10MB in ASQAnet.

Submitting an application for TAE Training Package training products

It is important that each document you submit as evidence is clearly labelled. ASQA needs to be able to distinguish:

  • what type of evidence the document is
  • which training package the document is related to

If your documents are not clearly labelled, your application will not be processed.

What evidence is required?
1. The details of all AQF qualifications and statements of attainment issued in the previous six months

You must include the following information:

  • Student name (first name and surname)
  • Student date of birth
  • The code and title of the awarded qualification
  • The code and title of the units of competency issued in the statement of attainment
  • Date the student commenced
  • Date the student completed
  • Date the certificate/statement of attainment was issued.
2. Evidence relating to the training and assessment strategies for each TAE product

Training and Assessment Strategy

The evidence you provide for any TAE product must include a Training and Assessment Strategy (TAS). This Strategy must be consistent with the requirements of the TAE Training and Education Training Package; enable learners to meet competency requirements; and responsive to the needs of learners and industry.

Trainers and Assessors

The evidence provided must show how the training and assessment will be conducted; describe learner group characteristics; identify the amount of training required; outline the involvement of 3rd parties; identify the training and assessment resources used; and demonstrate engagement with industry.

3. The learning resources, assessment materials and tools to be used

All the

  • learning materials
  • assessment policies and procedures
  • assessment materials and assessment tools
for the following units of competency must be submitted:
TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools
  • TAEASS401 Plan assessment activities and processes
  • TAEASS402 Assess competence
  • TAEASS403 Participate in assessment validation
TAE50116 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training
  • TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools
  • TAEASS501 Provide advanced assessment practice
TAE50216 Diploma of Training Design and Development
  • TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools
  • TAEDES501 Design and develop learning strategies
4. Evidence to demonstrate the training and assessment is delivered only by people with the required skills and knowledge capabilities

You must submit evidence that your trainers and assessors have:

  • the required qualifications
  • vocational competencies to the level being delivered
  • current industry skills and knowledge
5. Evidence showing the outcomes of your RTO’s independent external validation of its assessment system

You must show the independent validation of any five qualifications and/or units of competency – or if you have between 1 and 4 qualifications and/or units of competency on scope, for all training products.

6. Additional evidence for RTOs that have the relevant superseded training product on scope

If you have a superseded TAE qualification and are applying for a one of the new TAE qualifications, you must give evidence of your TAS for the last 12 months.

7. Additional evidence for RTOs seeking to deliver training and assessment qualifications for the first time

You must give evidence of the TAS that informed practice for the last 12 months.
